We are seeking an experienced accountant who will support the day to day financial and accounting affairs of our Belgian entities. The senior accountant will be responsible for the financial operations and timely and accurate financial reporting, in compliance with BE GAAP, and company policies. The Senior Accountant will work collaboratively as needed with the internal global team and with external service providers.. The candidate must be an extremely organized self-starter that thrives in a fast-paced work environment.
Primary responsibilities
● Own the day-to-day financial operations and accounting functions including AP entry, bill payments, invoice generation, bank reconciliation, AR and AP aging tracking, payroll entry and associated accruals.
● Perform monthly accounting close procedures including reconciliations, complex journal entries, ensuring subledgers reconcile to reported figures
● Prepare monthly reporting package including 3-statement financials
● Maintain monthly accrual schedules, deferred revenue schedules, fixed asset schedules
● Review transactions, account balances and financial reports for reasonableness and accuracy. Investigate fluctuations and reports on accuracy of balances and transactions
● Prepare work papers for the year-end audit and work with auditors during the audit process.
● Perform other accounting and finance duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
● Fluent in English and Dutch
● Bachelor's Degree in accounting, finance, or related field
● Demonstrated knowledge of Belgian GAAP and IFRS required. Public accounting experience strongly preferred
● Thorough understanding of 3-statement financial reporting
● 3-5 years of staff/senior accounting experience on a progressive career growth path. SaaS experience preferred.
● Advanced skill level with Excel plus advanced experience with accounting software, Unit4/UBW experience a plus.
● Detail oriented, analytical, resourceful, self-motivated and independent with the ability to research issues and problem solve
● Strong time management skills and ability to adhere to month-end close timelines. Comfortable managing multiple deliveries concurrently
● Professional verbal and written communication skills
