Timefold is an open-core software startup founded in 2023 - on a mission to free the world from wasteful scheduling! We are the next chapter of OptaPlanner, a field-proven, open-source solver originally created by Geoffrey De Smet, our CTO and co-founder.

Our headquarters are in Ghent, Belgium, in the magnificent and iconic Wintercircus building. The team operates remotely from various locations with hubs in Belgium, Czech Republic, and the US.

About the role

We are in search of a talented DevRel, a true teacher-coder, to join our dynamic team in Ghent. As a Developer Relations Engineer at Timefold, your primary mission is to educate the world about planning optimization and to make developers curious to use Timefold. This will range from general concepts in optimization problems how to use the Timefold REST APIs and Java APIs.

You will be a main contributor to Timefold Academy together with our CTO/co-founder, a technical writer, a video producer, and a coordinator who steers the content stream forward. You will be a major liaison to our user community.

Key Responsibilities

• Learn complex planning optimization and Timefold modeling concepts from the Timefold team, decipher that information and explain it to the world via easy to understand videos and articles
• Contributing to developer marketing and social influencing (online presence)
• Continuously evaluate our product and getting-started experience
• Representing our community presence, including conference speaking and training
• Act as customer zero for our proprietary models, platform and open-source solver
• Engage with the open-source communities
  

Key Qualifications

• You have a passion for teaching and a passion for coding
• You are proficient in Java. Experience with Kotlin or Python is nice to have
• You have experience with REST APIs
• You look forward to starring in our technical youtube videos, writing your own video scripts and working together with our video recorder/editor professional
• You want to learn about AI optimization techniques and Timefold modeling
• Fluent in English
• Ability to work collaboratively in a technical environment
